The man dragged his feet through the grey ash that was once trees and other life and pondered the role of the stars in all of this.  The prophet’s vision was derived from his penetration of and resonance with a microcosmic truth: that on the deepest level of existence, our thoughts are made of the same basic constituents as matter and all else.  The deepest level is like a living fabric from which all things tangible and intangible are born and where all of what we know about physics breaks down.  It is where existence exists outside of space and time, which in the final analysis are only human constructs, ways to help us navigate these transient, tenebrous, evanescent worlds, so much more like dreams than we ever imagined in our adolescence.  Contained within this truth, provided for by this ethereal, living construct of reality is the reality of connection across space and time, just as in our dreams we connect to deeper realms, and have access to information we never would in the waking state, and have the ability to see our futures (have you never had a dream and later found yourself somewhere or had some experience that you realized the dream foretold?  And, what is deja vu?).  This connection is what any dedicated practitioner of meditation seeks to tap into while awake, if only to feel that he or she is connected.  The prophet’s abilities were heightened.  He went beyond the feeling and knowing, saw through to another world and sensed a far deeper, underlying movement of reality.

Across space.  There were macrocosmic factors as well.  This mystery extended from the depths of the collective Mind to the stars above and to a distant world.
